Far Cry is a a first person shooter developed by Crytek GmbH and published by Ubisoft in 2004. The developers used the game as introduction to their own CryEngine, but after the release Ubisoft got the rights to the franchis and used there inhouse developers to continue the series. Which led to the different tone of the sequels.

In the story you play as Jack Carver, an ex-special forces member, who is escorting a journalist to a tropical island. Shortly after they arrived at the island, there boat was blown up by a missile attack, the journalist was kidnapped and you are left to die. But since you have a problem with just dying, you are going on a rampage to get the her back. On your fights through the island, old bunkers and laboratories you discover genetic experiment. So, not only do you have to fight against soldiers, but also some bad tempered mutants.

Where can I get it?

In 2008 the game was re-released on Steam and a year later on GOG. So getting it isn't not a problem, just wait for the next Sale Weekend and get it.

How can I play it on Windows 10?

The vanilla version from both Steam and GOG can make some problems on modern systems. To fix them get this community patch for the singleplayer and for the mutliplayer this patch.

If you use the GoG Version must remove these files from bin32 in order to play online with LR addon:

goggame.dll
MFC71.dll
mfc71u.dll
GameuxInstallHelper.dll(if you have it)

How to play it in Widescreen?

For widescreen support the easiest way is to download the FarOut Widescreen Mod.
